The RVUUF Library’s used book sale is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 and from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. According to RVUUF Library Committee chair Elinor Knight, this is a “great way to repurpose books” for holiday giving. She encourages people to spread the word to friends and neighbors.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Saturday for RVUUF’s “311” fundraising auction. A silent auction takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and the live auction is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $15. Ashland’s Pioneer Hall homeless shelter will open in mid-November, and RVUUF’s Religious Explorations youth will assemble kits of useful items for the adults who will be sheltered there. Members of the congregation have generously donated socks, but additional items are needed. Scott Engel has been hired as RVUUF’s sexton, a position that includes custodial duties and repairs to the buildings as needed. He has worked since last January in a temporary capacity and is happy to be working for RVUUF.
The Fellowship Fun Committee is sponsoring a soup luncheon after today’s service. Please come and bring the kids.
Social Justice and Action is moving its meeting time from the third Sunday to the second Thursday of each month, 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room.
